LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

Employee Benefits – L&D
With an enterprise that stretches across the country and spans dozens of different specialist functions, Woolworths New Zealand offers a huge range of career paths.
We provide significant resources for the development of our teams, whether in customer service or specialist support functions. Whatever career path you choose to take in Woolworths New Zealand, our goal is to equip and inspire the best people – so that, in a changing environment, they can do their best for our customers.
To be successful in your career, you’ll need to be a life-long learner developing and honing your skills through out your working life.  We support you by continually investing in our people as we believe they are our company’s most valuable asset.

Developing Retail Experts
We are proud of partnering with leading Industry Training Organisations to create bespoke training programmes for our people.

We offer our team the chance to learn - and gain nationally recognised qualifications - while earning a weekly wage.  Our people complete National Certificates in retail, baking, seafood retailing and processing, meat retailing, contact centre operations and in logistics.

These customised courses equip our people to be Retail experts, surprising and delighting our customers.

Management Trainee Programmes - Learn from the best in the business
Each year more than 200 Woolworths people have the opportunity to participate in one of our three tailored Management Trainee Programmes. Our trainees learn from the best in the business. They learn how to manage departments and whole supermarkets. They learn everything from delivering customer service, leading people, nurturing talent, managing stock, and budgets through to providing a safe environment and preventing loss.

Leaders Developing Leaders - Nurturing our talent
Our continued future success is inextricably linked to our development of future leaders now.  This is why our current leaders take great pride in developing their successors – those with the leadership, energy and drive to take us into the future.
We offer a number of exceptional leadership programmes designed to develop leaders who engage and retain people, and promote a high performance culture.  These programmes are run both locally and internationally.
Participants have the opportunity to develop through practical learning experiences, group work and projects which have been designed to reflect Woolworths New Zealand’s culture and values.
