Our Company

7 April 2015: From today, Tuesday 7 April, customers who purchase fruit and vegetables in Countdown Grey Lynn and Countdown Grey Lynn Central can now take these items outside the Queensland Fruit Fly controlled area.

The Ministry for Primary industries has approved both Countdown stores as MPI-approved retailers. A Countdown staff member will bag and seal these products at checkout, which enables customers to remove them from the controlled area.

Ryan McMullen, National Trading Manager, Countdown, says:  "Countdown welcomes the decision to make our Grey Lynn stores MPI-approved retailers. For customers this means shopping for fresh produce in Countdown will be returning closer to normal.

“Countdown would like to thank our Grey Lynn stores’ customers for their continued cooperation.”

Customers leaving the controlled area must keep their fruit and vegetables sealed until they have left the area and should keep their receipt as proof of purchase. Only fruit and vegetables purchased from MPI-approved retailers can be removed from the zone.

More information can be found in-store at Countdown Grey Lynn and Countdown Grey Lynn Central. Further information is also available from MPI online at: http://www.mpi.govt.nz/
