Our Company

10 September 2014: Countdown has announced today that its Paihia supermarket has had to close after a lengthy negotiation with its landlord and a court decision.

“We are exceptionally disappointed by the position the landlord has taken,” says Dave Chambers, Countdown Managing Director.

“Despite a long negotiation and our strong desire to continue to provide the people of Paihia with their only full-service supermarket, we’ve been asked to stop trading immediately.

“We are very sorry that it’s had to come to this, for our team, the community and our Countdown customers,” he says.

Chambers says the company is working closely with its team to identify those team members who can transition to other nearby Countdown supermarkets in Kerikeri and Kaikohe, in addition to the new Countdown Paihia Central shop on Williams Road.

Customers can visit the new Paihia Central Countdown shop and Countdown is also offering Paihia customers free online delivery or free Click and Collect.  Enter the keyword PAIHIA at the checkoutwww.countdown.co.nz

“Our priority is to look after and accommodate all our team, and make sure the community can still access all their essentials. We thank Paihia for their loyalty and ongoing support,” says Chambers.
